June 2007 IPTEC 2008: Technology Scouts now meet in FrankfurtBusiness development through technology transfer is the idea behind IPTEC Marketplace & Conference, which will take place from 11-12 June 2008 in Frankfurt, Germany. Previously held in Cannes, France, IPTEC has become the international meeting point for technology scouts and technology transfer professionals from all over the world. Organisations such as Microsoft, Philips, Reckitt Benckiser, General Electric, AstraZeneca, Unilever, Gaz de France, the European Space Agency, Max-Planck Innovation and Stanford University were amongst the participants of the previous event.

BLECHbusiness 2007, Exhibition and Conference for the sheet metal working industry in Poland, takes place for the first time from 27 - 29 November 2007 at EXPO XXI International Expo Centre in Warsaw. The event is well received by Polish companies, as well as by companies from Western Europe and Asia: Much of the exhibition space has already been taken.

Mack Brooks Exhibitions Ltd of the United Kingdom and InterAds Exhibitions Pte Ltd of India announce the formation of a new joint venture company, InterAds Brooks Pte Ltd. The new 50:50 joint venture company has been created to launch and develop new trade exhibitions in India. A first event, inter airport India, took place from 21-23 February 2007 at Delhi’s Pragati Maidan Exhibition Center.

The show provides both an outdoor exhibit area, in which ground support equipment can be displayed and demonstrated in its ‘natural environment’, and a connected indoor exhibition hall area for indoor exhibits.

Some 500 companies from 30 countries have already booked their stands at inter airport Europe 2007 which will again take place at Munich airport in Germany, from 9 – 12 October 2007. 90% of the total stand space has already been taken at the 16th International Exhibition for Airport Equipment, Technology and Services.

More than 1,800 industry professionals from 29 countries visited Exporail 2006, the first in a planned series of international exhibitions of railway systems and technology held at Moscow’s Expocentr from 1-3 November 2006. As well as attracting visitors from Russia, the Baltic states, CIS countries and Europe, the show also drew engineers and decision-makers from Asia, Australia, Latin America, Canada and the US.

Inter Airport China closed its doors on 8 September 2006 having attracted almost 40% more visitors than the previous show in 2004. This remarkable increase in visitor attendance came at a time when China’s airport infrastructure is expanding rapidly to cater for the growing demands of aviation travel in the country. New and growing airports from throughout China attended the three-day trade exhibition to meet suppliers of airport equipment and services from 23 countries worldwide.

Following the backing of the German Airport Technology and Equipment trade association (GATE), inter airport India 2007 has now also received the backing of the British Airport Services and Equipment Association (BASEA). The BASEA-led British pavilion at inter airport India will be strengthened as a consequence of the United Kingdom government’s Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) subsidy to participating exhibitors.

Dr K Ramalingham, Chairman of the Airports Authority of India (AAI), has pledged his organisation’s full backing and support for inter airport India 2007. As exhibitor and conference participant, the authority predicts a substantial turnout at the trade show by airports and airport planners from throughout India.

Mack Brooks Exhibitions has confirmed that its new rail industry trade show in Spain, EXPO Ferrocarril 2007, will take place from 20 to 22 November 2007. The venue for the event will be the Spanish capital’s prestigious IFEMA Feria de Madrid exhibition centre.

The list of exhibitors planning to take part in the UK’s largest rail show continues to grow. By early May more than 180 companies from 10 countries had reserved space at RAILTEX 2007. They include major suppliers covering every sector of the market – train builders such as Bombardier Transportation and Hitachi, rolling stock systems suppliers like Knorr-Bremse and MTU Friedrichshafen, and companies from the signalling and communications sector, among them Alcatel and Westinghouse Rail Systems. Infrastructure products and services will also be well represented, with Corus among firms taking part from that sector.

An increased focus on the rail infrastructure market and the provision of tracks within the exhibition hall will be among the new features at next year’s SIFER 2007 trade show, which takes place in Lille, France, from 12 to 14 June 2007. And for the first time, a second hall has been reserved at the Lille Grand Palais exhibition centre to accommodate demand for stand space at the show.

Participants acclaimed the first edition of IPTEC as highly successful. The matchmaking event, designed for professionals who want to develop their licensing business, took place at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes for the first time this year. Some 200 participants came from all over the world to the French Riviera to meet their potential business partners at this unique international event for intellectual property and technology licensing. IPTEC represented exactly the right mix of networking partners: Multinational companies, such as Microsoft, Philips, 3M, GE, NEC, Nokia, Procter & Gamble, SAP and Unilever with participants from SMEs, universities and research centres.

With still eight months to go, everything points out to EuroBLECH 2006, 24-28 October 2006, Hanover, Germany, being the largest sheet metal show ever. There is unprecedented demand to exhibit at this year’s show. Mack Brooks Exhibitions, the organisers, have therefore increased the hall space to accommodate the new companies and to allow for the noticeable increase in net space of many exhibitors. The additional hall, hall 16, is filling up quickly, after halls 11,12,13,14,15 and 27 were fully booked some months ago.

The next INFRARAIL exhibition of rail infrastructure equipment and technology will take place in Hall 9 of the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham, UK, from 4 to 6 March 2008.
INFRARAIL 2008 will be the seventh in this well established and successful series of UK-based events, which have previously also been held in London and Manchester. The next show will be the first to be staged at the NEC, reflecting the policy of organisers Mack Brooks Exhibitions of offering exhibitors and visitors different regional venues for its rail events.
