The Mack Brooks Exhibitions Group has announced the launch of a new airport event, designed for the commercial planning and development of airports and airport cities. AIRTROPOLIS Expo focuses upon maximising the non-aviation commercial opportunities as well as upon the management of property and development of real estate. The event is scheduled to take place from 13 - 15 October 2008 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Malaysia.
AIRTROPOLIS Expo will take place alongside the 4th World Bank ICAO Conference and the 14th Routes World Development Forum, Leadership Forum and World Fleet Forum. In addition, a specialised conference, Airports as Catalysts for Economic Development (ACED), will be staged by conference organiser Insight Media Ltd, UK.
Airports have become major hubs of global trade and are considered to be key centres of economic growth. As a result, airports around the world are now strategically planning their development as airport cities. Parallel to the continuing growth in air traffic, the traditional core business of airports, huge growth potential for airports and airport cities lies in the non-aviation sector. This includes retailing, both at the terminal and off-terminal, as well as property management and development.
"With AIRTROPOLIS Expo we have created an international marketplace for the fast-developing non-aviation sector. For airport professionals the event will provide exceptional opportunities for long-term revenue generation and growth," says Exhibition Director Susanne Rauberger of Mack Brooks Exhibitions.
"AIRTROPOLIS Expo brings together businesses, governments, ministries and organisations looking for suppliers, partners and decision-making contacts, all committed to maximising the non-aviation revenue of their airport or airport city. Exhibitors will include retailers, passenger and logistics services as well as land, estate and property development services," explains Susanne Rauberger.
Mack Brooks Exhibitions is the organiser of the inter airport trade shows, the leading international brand for exhibitions on airport operations equipment, technology and services. With AIRTROPOLIS Expo the exhibition organisers have now launched an event in a related, but separate area.
All those associated with airports and airport cities at the most senior level highly welcome this new platform, as the non-aviation and real estate business is of vital importance for the future development of airports and airport cities. According to Dr. Michael Kerkloh, CEO of Flughafen München GmbH (FMG), the Munich Airport operating company, "The Airport City will become an indispensible part of the airport experience in the very near future as airports gain in importance not only as modern transport hubs, but also as business, service, government, recreation and cultural centers."
