Russian rail and tunnel shows EXPORAIL and INTERtunnel record increased visitor numbers

The combined Exporail and Intertunnel 2007 trade shows, which took place in Moscow from 27 to 29 November, attracted some 2,600 professionals from the rail and transport-related industries.

Exporail alone drew nearly 2,000 visitors, an increase of over 10 % on last year’s exhibition. An additional 340 visitors specifically visited Intertunnel 2007, together with 260 transport engineers and specialists that had been attending other infrastructure events taking place at the show venue, Moscow’s Expocentr.

In all, 140 exhibitors from 15 countries took part in the two shows – 120 at Exporail and 20 at Intertunnel. While the list of participants included many leading Russian suppliers, it also featured prominent firms from across Europe and from Australia, Canada and the US. Exhibitor feedback was very positive, with many companies reporting good contacts and business leads.

This was the second Exporail show to be staged in Moscow by Restec Brooks Exhibitions, a joint venture of Mack Brooks Exhibitions Ltd in the United Kingdom and the St Petersburg-based Restec Exhibition Company. It followed a similar highly successful event in 2006 and again benefited from support from RZD, Russian Railways.

This year’s Intertunnel was the first to be held in Moscow and was supported by the RTA, Russian Tunnelling Association.

Commenting on the success of the two shows, Exhibition Director Olivia Griscelli said: ‘Exhibitors and visitors all seemed very well satisfied with our second Exporail show in Moscow, and especially with the way in which both Russian and foreign suppliers were strongly represented. There was also a very good welcome for our first Intertunnel event in Russia. We have a lot of experience in this market and we believe the show can play a key role in showcasing the latest in tunnelling technology.’

Dates for the next of these events in Russia have already been confirmed. Show organisers Restec Brooks plan to return to Moscow with both Exporail and Intertunnel from 18-20 March 2009.
