October 2008
Dates announced for next India rail technology show
Dates have been confirmed for the second exhibition of railway technology and services for the Indian sub-continent. Exporail India 2009 will take place at the Pragati Maidan Exhibition Centre in New Delhi from 21 to 23 October 2009.
India's already huge rail network is set to benefit from major long-term investments to deliver the extra capacity needed to meet the demands of a fast-growing economy. Urban mass transit schemes are also being implemented in many of India's major cities to provide sustainable solutions for increasing mobility needs.
Exporail India was first held in 2007 and was developed to enable suppliers of railway equipment, products and expertise to present their solutions to this booming market. That event drew exhibitors from 14 countries and attracted nearly 2,500 visiting industry professionals, including many of the most senior Indian Railways and government figures.
As in 2007, all sectors of the railway equipment and services market are to be covered by the show ─ infrastructure, signalling, electrification, rolling stock and supporting products and services for main line passenger and freight and for urban mass transit systems. It is also intended to stage supporting events aimed at providing participants with an insight into principal future developments affecting India's railways.
The organiser of Exporail India 2007 is Inter Ads-Brooks Exhibitions (India) Ltd, a joint venture between Mack Brooks Exhibitions, a world leader in organising trade exhibitions for the rail industry, and InterAds Pte Ltd, based in India. Mack Brooks' well known events include Railtex, the UK's leading exhibition of railway technology. Also held in the UK is Infrarail, while rail exhibitions in mainland Europe include Expo Ferroviaria (Turin, Italy), Sifer (Lille, France) and Exporail (Moscow, Russia).
Commenting on the launch of Exporail India 2009, Exhibition Director Tom Ho said: 'We received very positive feedback about the 2007 show from exhibitors and from those who visited the event. Many of the companies exhibiting reported positive business leads from a market that they see as offering significant long-term opportunities. With no easing of investment in India's rail system, we are confident that our 2009 exhibition will be a timely and valuable event for both sides of the industry.'
