ATMA® /ATME-I  APPLAUDS SHOW STRATEGIES

Atlanta, May 20.  Officials of the American Textile Machinery Association (ATMA®), welcome the repeat of co-located shows to serve the broadly defined textile and apparel industries.  “ATMA® is prepared to continue American Textile Machinery Exhibition International / MEGATEX concurrent with related shows in our industry.  Our successful co-location with the Industrial Fabrics Association International in 2006, which included the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists, (AATCC)  and this year’s positive outcome with TechTextil North America and SPESA, as well as AATCC, proved the value of organizing related events alongside each other; the crossover of visitors and increased critical mass has benefitted all participants,” according to ATMA® President Clay D. Tyeryar.

“ATMA has been approached by a number of parties seeking to collocate with ATME-I/MEGATEX, and it appears that several strong options exist for the next event.  We are very excited about the prospect of announcing the new line up in the upcoming weeks,” stated Will Motchar, ATMA® Co-Vice Chairman and President & CEO, Navis Global.

ATMA® was founded in 1933, having several predecessor organizations back to 1881 when the International Cotton Machinery Exhibition was presented in Atlanta.  ATMA® is headquartered in metropolitan Washington, D.C., and is the only U.S.-based association dedicated solely to the interests of U.S. textile machinery and parts suppliers.

“We will continue to seek venues and alliances to match the wants and needs of our members with their customers,” said Udo Skarke, ATMA Co-Vice Chairman and CEO of Erhardt + Leimer, Inc.

Exhibitors at ATME-I/MEGATEX 2010 reported a positive upturn in market conditions with very acceptable visitor quality and quantity.

Jay White, President of Morrison Textile Machinery, and past Chairman of ATMA stated, “this ATME-I/MEGATEX has been one of the strongest US events in which we’ve participated in recent years.”

The ATME-I/MEGATEX exhibition attracted over 3,500 visitors from 38 countries, with some 9% of visitors attending from outside of the USA.  The combined number of attendees at the event, taking into account crossover visitors from collocated shows, is expected to approach 10,000.  The event was supported by 154 exhibitors, 84 of which attended from the USA and 70 international exhibitors.  In particular, large groups exhibited from Germany (19), from Italy (15), and from Switzerland (8).

ATMA Chairman Mike Viniconis of Argus Fire Control concluded “it’s great to see this event and this industry looking to the future with optimism.  We look forward to announcing the new dates, partners and location in the very near future.”
